EMBRYO TECHNOLOGIES DIVISION (VITAGENE FARMS)

Transforming Genetics Through Advanced Embryo Technologies

The Embryo Technologies Division, operating under the VitaGene Farms brand, is IRBG’s commercial embryo biotechnology division. It accelerates genetic improvement through reproductive technologies that enable rapid multiplication and dissemination of elite livestock genetics.

Combining laboratory infrastructure with comprehensive field services, VitaGene Farms provides end-to-end embryo technology solutions for cattle, buffalo, sheep, goats, and horses — from elite donor programs through large-scale embryo transfer.

This division is led under the direct clinical experience of Dr. Qaisar Shahzad, whose personal career includes production of more than 40,000 in vitro embryos and the export of over 12,000 Nili-Ravi buffalo embryos from Pakistan to China — the same expertise now built into VitaGene Farms’ protocols.

Mission

To accelerate genetic improvement through advanced embryo technologies, delivering reliable, scientifically validated reproductive solutions that enhance livestock productivity and profitability.

Vision

To become South Asia’s leading commercial embryo biotechnology division, recognized for excellence in embryo production, genetic improvement, and technology-driven breeding programs.

Our Core Units

Embryo Production Unit

The technical core of VitaGene Farms. Services include OPU-IVF embryo production, in vivo embryo production (MOET), embryo culture, grading, quality assessment, and fresh/frozen embryo production.

Donor Animal Facility

Identifies, manages, and maximizes the reproductive potential of genetically superior females — elite donor selection, health evaluation, reproductive monitoring, nutritional management, and genetic evaluation.

Recipient Animal Facility

Comprehensive recipient herd management to maximize pregnancy success — recipient selection, estrous synchronization, embryo transfer preparation, and pregnancy monitoring.

Our Technologies

  • OPU-IVF Embryo Production — oocyte collection from elite females followed by laboratory fertilization and culture.
  • Multiple Ovulation and Embryo Transfer (MOET) — rapid multiplication of elite genetics from superovulated donors.
  • Embryo Transfer — transfer of fresh or frozen embryos into synchronized recipients.
  • Embryo Cryopreservation — long-term preservation using validated freezing and vitrification techniques.

Species Programs

  • Buffalo — genetic improvement for dairy and breeding buffalo.
  • Dairy Cattle — elite dairy herd development.
  • Beef Cattle — rapid multiplication of superior beef genetics.
  • Sheep — embryo technologies for meat and dairy sheep.
  • Goats — reproductive technologies for dairy and meat goat breeding.
  • Horses — embryo technologies supporting equine breeding and genetic improvement.

Genetic Program Tiers

Commercial Genetics

Reliable, high-performing genetics for commercial livestock production.

Premium Genetics

Enhanced genetic merit from carefully selected elite donor animals.

Elite Genomic Genetics

Top-tier genetics from genomically evaluated elite donors.

International Partnerships

VitaGene Farms brings global expertise to Pakistan through strategic partnerships with leading international reproductive biotechnology companies.

Brio Genetics and Biotechnology (Brazil)

VitaGene Farms has partnered with Brio Genetics and Biotechnology, a world-renowned Brazilian company, to serve cattle embryo production and transfer in Pakistan. Brio’s CEO, Dr. Juliano Franco, is a globally recognized expert in OPU, IVF/IVP, and embryo transfer with over 29 years of experience in bovine reproduction. Brio Genetics and Biotechnology performs 300 OPU procedures, 2,000 fresh embryo transfers, and 500 frozen embryo transfers per month across operations in Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, and Russia. Dr. Franco now provides his services in Pakistan on the VitaGene Farms platform.

Pandoke Organic Farms & Beijing Awoteke Technology (China)

VitaGene Farms, in collaboration with Pandoke Organic Farms and the Chinese company Beijing Awoteke Technology, has launched Pakistan’s first commercial-level embryo production and transfer program in sheep and goats — a landmark first for the country’s small ruminant sector, delivered through joint Pakistani and Chinese expertise.
